This premarital education program meets Texas requirements and may allow eligible couples to receive a reduced marriage license fee and a waiver of the 72-hour waiting period, as determined by the county clerk. The Twogether in Texas premarital counseling program includes a minimum of 8 hours of premarital education, completed over multiple days or sessions. Sessions are structured to provide practical skills, meaningful discussion, and guided reflection. This program integrates Gottman-informed relationship skills, Prepare/Enrich assessment and feedback, communication and conflict-management strategies, exploration of expectations, values, and family-of-origin patterns, and optional integration of faith or spiritual beliefs based on the couple’s preferences. Couples should expect intentional homework and structured exercises between sessions. This is an active program designed to support thoughtful and honest preparation for marriage.

Premarital Counseling Options

Private premarital counseling allows couples to complete the 8-hour program over multiple sessions scheduled around their availability. Sessions are individualized and tailored to the couple’s unique relationship dynamics and goals. Small group premarital classes are offered periodically throughout the year. Group dates and availability will be announced in advance. Group classes meet all Twogether in Texas requirements and provide an interactive learning environment with other engaged couples.

Cost and Insurance Information

Premarital counseling may be eligible for insurance billing depending on clinical criteria and individual insurance benefits. Couples should email Desert Bloom Therapy prior to scheduling. A brief screening tool will be used to determine whether either partner meets criteria for insurance billing. If one partner qualifies and has eligible benefits, sessions may be billed to insurance in accordance with clinical and insurance guidelines. If insurance is not applicable or benefits do not apply, the private-pay rate for the full 8-hour Twogether in Texas premarital counseling program is $300 per couple. This includes coursework, materials, and the certificate of completion.
